the temps dropped back to normal (0F) and the snow is glittering. i did some tax training in the morning in order to volunteer in the bush during tax season. i'm pretty excited about it since i will get to fly to 3 villages that i've never been to and would never probably get to visit on my own. plus, they are in a region where there are mask carvers that i really admire.

a drop in temperature = glitter

i did find out that my villages have beds and running water available to us, and even a restaurant! otherwise, we are supposed to fly in our own week's worth of food and water (with a weight limit of 40# per person for all baggage.)

  1. I've just discovered you and the snapshots of your surroundings. Wildlife is my passion so I'll be visiting you frequently!
I'm curious about those three villages? I've been to some of the remote villages in AK as well. What a wonderful opportunity for you!
Good luck with your meal planning!

  2. Back in the "olden days" I was a deckhand on a hand troller. We went to Hoonah, (which is now quite touristy I hear), Pelican & Angoon. In the 70's the populations were very small, compared to today. You'll get to see your mask maker at work in his studio. How exciting.
